Blackshaw Parish Council seeks a motivated and organised person, preferably with prior experience, to take on the post of Clerk and Responsible Financial Officer.

The post is part time (20 hours a month) mainly working from home and hours of work are flexible apart from attendance at the council meetings which at present are held at 7.30pm on the fourth Monday of the month at Blackshawhead Methodists Church.

Salary will be paid in accordance with the National Joint Council recommendations SCP 14-17 dependent on qualifications and experience (around £15-16 per hour).

Must be IT literate and able to manage the Council’s website as well as competent in administration and finance.

Laptop supplied. Must be able to store current Council material at home address in secure conditions.

The Clerk provides support to the seven Councillors including ensuring that Council decisions are made within the constraints of Local Government legislation. As RFO the Clerk is responsible for budget setting, recording the accounts, paying of wages and complying with stringent year end audit processes. Responsibilities also include preparing the agenda, writing minutes, dealing with correspondence, producing an annual newsletter, attending occasional other meetings and managing a small allotment site. The Clerk also has the opportunity to support other community activities.
